Thanksgiving Turkey Trots kick off the holiday race season.
Don Morrison continued his winning ways in his division at the Tel Hai 5K,
while Bob Simmons placed 3rd in his division. Bob bested his re cent
PR at the Run For Katie by 2 seconds with a 19:08. Kevin Kelly led
the WCRC runners at the Chester County Turkey Trot with a 2nd place finish
overall -

The weekend of November 22-23 was ideal for running,
whether it be the Philadelphia Marathon or the Delaware XC Championships/
Don Morrison eschewed the bike this weekend to win his age-group over the
5K xc course,. Oother club members were racing through Philadelphia on the
marathon course. led by Mark Rochon in 2:58:56 and Ann Tierney in 3:03:18
(2nd in div. and 19th female overall).

Don Morrison swept to first place in his division at both
the Mt. Bike Duathlon in Annandale, VA and the King of the Hill Mt. Bike
Duathlon in Lebanon, NJ this month.

Our only member to report results from the New York City
Marathon was Julie Cara who set a PR by 50 minutes, running 3:45:01.

Don Morrison moved off-road for the Mountain Man Duathlon
consisting of a 5K run, 15-mile mountain bike ride, followed by another 5K
run. His effort earned him 1st place in his division.

Bob Simmons nearly duplicated his Covered Bridge race with
a 19:16 at the David Good Memorial 5K placing 2nd in the 40-49 division
and 7th place overall.

More Fall results: Kevin Murtaugh also ran Steamtown
in an outstanding 3:09:22 good for 3rd place in his division. Joe
Breslin opted for a half-marathon in Baltimore and won the Masters
division with an 8th place overall in 1:17:09.

More outstanding marathon results from the Trigon Bay
Bridge Marathon in Virginia Beach: Rob Jones finished 6th overall in
2:50:12 and Lisa Siegle finished 8th in her division with a 4:16:40.
Among the obstacles they had to overcome were a headwind for the first 14
miles followed by a long, straight, boring stretch over the last 12 miles.

Donna Bushey ran a Boston Qualifying time at Steamtown
Marathon finishing in 3:36:23. Russ Mabry also completed the course
in 4:43:53. Congratulations to both.

Results from the Covered Bridge Classic: Bob Simmons sped
to a 19:11 in the 5K and a 2nd place in the 40-49 division and 7th place
overall.

Jeff Wrenn just missed the 1 hour mark, running 1:00:08 at
the Delaware Distance Classic 15K for a 4th place division finish and 22nd
overall. Maggie Lovell also completed the race in 1:24:57.

Don Morrison continues his dominance in duathlons! Don
sped to first place finishes in his division at the Great Pumpkin Duathlon
in New Jersey and again at the Cape Henlopen Duathlon in Delaware.

Three members traveled to Chicago for the marathon.
Julie Hankin ran an impressive 3:15:14, with Robert Hankin running 3:50:40
and Lee Norcross finishing in 4:34:35. Meanwhile at Steamtown Donna
Bushey ran 3:36:23 and Russ Mabry turned in a 4:43:53.

Kevin Kelly finished second overall at the Run For Katie 5K
in Downingtown. Bob Simmons finished 4th overall and won his
division with a 19:10 time, while Jonathon Joseph and George Sanders finished 2-3 in
the 50-59 division.

winning ways. both placed first in their respective divisions at the
Lum Pond Duathlon in Neward, DE.

Don Morrison excels in duathlons! Don placed second
in his division at the Ohio State Duathlon Championships and followed that
two weeks later with a first in the US Grand Prix Duathlon Series in
Georgia.

PDR Club results are fantastic. The master A team
placed 2nd and the women's open team placed third. Individually John
Carroll and Ann Tierney placed 4th in their divisions, Pete Mathias and
Kim Saddic placed 5th, Joe Breslin 7th, Connie Epperson 9th, and Ray
Bentley and Leslie Hoey 11th. At least 8 members bettered last
year's times by 5 minutes or more with Pat Epling lowering his time by a
whopping 22 minutes. Othe 5-minute plus runners were Ray Bently,
Rick Pryor, Donna Bushey, Lysa Siegle, Jim chartrand, Doug Hisey, and Russ

Bob Simmons, among many WCRC members, competed in Teri's
Run on September 5th. Bob finished in 19:26 for a PR. Other
top finishers include Brendan Buckley (15:34), John Carroll (15:37), Joe
Breslin (16:54), Ray Bentley (17:04), Ed Baghdasarian (17:13), Dinae
Norris (18:29), and Ann Tierney (18:38).

WCRC members dominated the Labor Day 8K. John Carroll
finished 1st in 27:21, followed by Kevin Kelly (29:52) and Ed Baghdasarian
(30:23). Chris Bartges finished 5th in 31:18, Jeff Wrenn 7th in
32:56, and Ann Tierney (1st Female) 8th in 33:15.

More triathlon results: Joe Breslin grabbed 2nd place in
the masters at the Wilkes Barre Triathlon finishing 9th overall. He
completed the 1.5K swim, 40K bike ride, and 11K run in 2:20:50.

Connie Epperson continued her outstanding race efforts with
a 1:11:58 15K at the Good Neighbor Day races, placing 1st in her division.
This followed a 5th place at Broad Street.

Great efforts at the Lake Placid Ironman: Ken Glah
finished 8th overall in 9:20:35. Nick Waller completed the full
ironman in 15:54:47.

Joe Breslin shined in the Diamond in the Rough Triathlon
finishing 12th overall and 2nd masters. He swam 1 mile in 25
minutes, biked 27 miles in 1:13 and ran 5 miles in 31:15 for a final time
of 2:12:56.

Ray Bentley ran a 17:50 at the Lighthouse Taco Toss
5K in Dewey Beach placing 6th overall. It was his best time in
several years - improving with age.

Not to be outdone by the triathletes, Ray Bentley braved
the heat and humidity at the Mid-Summer Eve 5K to finish 2nd in 18:26.

In another triathlon competition, Sonny Rutkowski ran
4:26:46 at the Eagleman Triathlon.

Blackwater Half Ironman Results: Jesse Sturino finsihed
38th in his division and 227th overall in 4:52:33, followed by Chris
Bartges, 58th in his division and 327th overall in 4:59:29. The half
ironman consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 miles bike ride, and a
half-marathon.

Ann Tierney led a small group to WCRC members at the
Kennett Square races on May 17th. Ann won the women's 10K in 39:21,
while Jeff Wrenn place 3rd in his division at 40:05, with Gerry Auman 4th
in his division in 45:03. George Sanders placed 2nd in his division
in the 5K running 21:57.

Jesse Sturino stars at UCP 5K Corporate Challenge. Jesse
finished 7th overall and 3rd masters in 17:27 and helped his GSK Men's Masters team to a
first place finish. The 2 masters finishing ahead were his temmates.

WCRC and CCRS teams and individuals excel at the 24th
Annual Broad Street Run. The WCRC masters women finish 1st, while
the CCRS women finish 2nd. On the men's side the WCRC master #1 team
also finished 2nd.

Kevin Murtaugh completed his first marathon, running
3:12:52 on April 27th in the New Jersey Marathon. The effort earned
him a second place finish in his division.

Four members braved the Trail Triple Crown Half-marathon at
White Clay Creek State Park. Jesse Sturino, Joanne Abbruzzesi, Donna
Bushey, and Rick Pryor ran through mud, up and down hill, and possibly a
few extra miles. Despite the conditions Jesse and Joanne won their
divisions. Jesse was 4th overall.

Very fast, very fun, had a blast, and a great way to start
my outdoor racing season." That's Ed Baghdasarian's report from the
Sky's the Limit 5K where he ran 17:07 and placed 14th. Rick Pryor set a PR
by almost a minute, finishing in 21:48. Full results for

Recent rumors report another PR by Jesse Sturino.
Finishing March like a lion, instead of a lamb. Jesse ran 3:04 at the
Ocean Drive Marathon to place 4th overall and 1st in his division.
The time is even more remarkable in that runners had to battle a stiff
headwind during the race.

Ann Tierney raced to a 2nd place in
her division, and 6th among females at the Bancroft 5K with a time of
18:15.

John Carroll led the WCRC contingent at the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon
with a 5th place finish in 1:15:49. Mike Bizal, Rob Jones, Chris Bartges, and Pete
Mathias followed with sub-1:30 times. Jack Young was close behind with a
1:32:40 good for 10th in his division, while Julie Hankin ran 1:37:30 to
place 6th in her division. Bob Ricks, Rick Pryor, and Marie
Dawson all finished under 2:00. Jeff Markle, Maggie Lovell, Lysa Siegle,
John Comolli, Gwen Kissinger, and Julianne O'Neil also represented the
club.

John Carroll puts in another fine performance with a 26:43 effort
for 2nd place finish at the Athlete's Closet 5-mile Run.

John Carroll leads the way in the final CCRS Winter Series 5K with a 16:21
win. Ann Tierney leads the women with an 18:56, placing 4th overall.

Club member John Carroll is establishing himself as a local runner of
note. John won the Athlete's Closet Winter Series 5K on February 1
with a time of 16:31. Meanwhile other club members were in Downingtown for
the
CCRC Winter Series #3.

Icicle Ten Miler results:
Club members brave the unseasonably cold weather led by Jesse
Sturino (1:02:25), Chris Bartges (1:05:20), Pete Mathias (1:05:48,
2nd Div.), Rick Ladow (1:07:10, 4th in Div.), and Jeff Wrenn (1:09:14). Jeanne Jarmoska represented the
women, running 1:32:38 to place 3rd in her division. Others braving
the cold include Jack Young (1:12:42) on the comeback trail and Rick Pryor
(1:23:37) showing great improvement year over year.

Late results from New Year's Eve
Race Against Time: Pete Morse led a contingent of WCRC members, running
16:30 for 5K to place 5th (2nd in div.). Gerry Auman ran 20:42 (5th
in div.), followed by Connie Epperson in 21:58 to win her division.

Overlooked member - We missed
Brendan Buckley in our results for several recent races. He finished
3rd overall in the David Good 5K in 16:09, 26th in the Rothman 8K (26:00,
8th in div.), and 15th at Brian's Run (32:57, 3rd in div.). A
belated but much deserved congratulations.

We had over a dozen members finish
in the top 10 in their division as well as 8 of them breaking 40 minutes
for the 10K course. Kevin Kelly finished 1st in his division in
32:33 (chip time), followed by Pete Morse (4th in div., 34:03). Bill
showers finished in 34:13 (2nd in div.). Joe Breslin (35:27) was the
2nd masters, also 2nd in his div., with Ken Kondracki 4th masters (35:54)
and Mike Bizal 10th masters (38:10, 8th in div.). Ed Baghdasarian
pulled a double on race day, finishing 7th in 20:06 in the 5K for a warmup,
then ran 38:51 for 7th in his div. in the 10K. Ann Tierney was 4th
female overall in 39:47. Also on the distaff side, Jeanne Jarmoska
took 2nd in her div. in 53:29. Other top 10 division finshes were
recorded by Jack Young (42:10), Gerry Auman (43:43), George Sanders
(47:27), Donna Bushey (50:41), and Larry Wheeler (56:29).

Philly Marathon and Rothman 8K. Breaking 3 hours (chip time) were
John Carroll (2:41:40), Kim Saddic (2:43:20, 4th female, 2nd in div.),

Pete Mathias placed 5th in his div. clocking 3:02:21. Dinae Norris

Steamtown
Marathon Results - WCU grad Matt Sandercock wins in 2:21:19. Joe
Breslin led WCRC members with a 2:42:20 for 13th place winning his
division. Rob Jones turnedin a 2:57:27, followed by Bob Clare (3:09:55)
and Lysa Siegle (4:30:18). Bob Ricks rejoined the ranks of
marathoners with his first effort in 20 years.

100 places by Kim Saddic, 13th (1:19:35), Rachel Hixson, 17th (1:20:59,
Ann Tierney 48th (1:28:27), and Dinae Norris, 57th (1:29:47). Rachel
placed 3rd in her age-group, Kim 5th, Ann 9th, and Dinaw 11th. Among
the men, top 100 places went to Jeff Devlin, 38th (1:13:50), Kevin Kelly,
45th (1:14:44), John Carroll, 57th (1:15:43), Joe Breslin, 79th (1:18:53,

Time 5k on New Year's Eve, the club was represented by some good
performances ~ Kevin Kelly 15:45 (2nd overall, 1st div.), Bob "I missed
the Beer Mile" Rimkis (5th overall, 1st div.) at 17:17, Prez Jack Young
20:09 (4th div.), Mike Zebert 20:22, Allison Bushey 20:39 (2nd overall
woman, 1st div.) - great job from the WC Henderson star!, dad Bran Bushey
21:22, and another WC Henderson star - Lauren Bahnatka 21:28 (4th overall
women, 2nd div.)...great job by all!

150 members strong~ the 5k run marking the event went very well despite
the cold rain which didn't dampen the spirits of all who attended;

Redemption is always sweeter when it
happens to be a 25 min. improvement...Congratulations to Ann Marie Kelly
who ran 3:46 in the Harrisburg Marathon on Nov. 11! This gutsy run
came after a 3-week recovery from the tough Baltimore Marathon. She
took 100th overall, 12th female & 3rd in her division. (By the way,
Ann Marie outran the "6 Boobs & a Dude" relay team by 9 minutes). Great
run, Ann Marie!

of support. Bill Dawson has aggravated his achilles tendon ailments once
again. It appears our club president will be sidelined for a while.

A great marathon performance turned
in by Joe Breslin down in Baltimore on 10/20 - 2:48:54 - good for 22nd
place; Ann Kelly and Lysa Siegle had good runs as well; Kevin Kelly
ran a speedy 5k (15:05) good enough for 7th overall (1st div.) and our
prez Bill Dawson is on the comeback from a nagging achilles injury,
running a very nice 19:10 for 5k placing 3rd in his division; Chris
Schultz ran a good 5k as well down in Baltimore; locally, Julie
Bowers went for the cash at the Greater Springfield Business Assn. 5k
winning for the ladies in 17:40 just a step behind the youngster Jason
McCambridge...a good race weekend for the WCRC!

place in her division at the Ocean State (Rhode Island) Marathon - a great
job running 3:31 (husband Bran not far behind in 3:38)...A big shoutout to
Chicago and Steamtown marathoners on Oct. 7. - Congrats to Jesse Sturino
(3:09 - reached goal of 3:10 & now qualifies for the big dance - Boston -
great job Jesse!); all-around "iron man" (with the silver tongue) -Peter
Mathias - great race (3:21) coming off an injury and lets not forget a
gutsy run by Kevin McCollester (3:36) - great run in the windy city;
Congrats to Bob Clare at Steamtown - ran 3:08 - Boston qualifier;
Mike Diamond ran a nice 3:20 race - good job! In other weekend races

has been selected as a 2001 inductee into the NCAA Cross Country Hall

WCRC members had some good race
performances over the last couple weeks - On July 3, Edwin
Baghdasarian, Jason Britton, Ann Tierney, Dean Rasmussen (exceptional
race!), Kevin McCollester, Donna Bushey, Rick Pryor, and Larry Wheeler did
very well in the WCU X-C Series #3 race.

On the 4th of July at the Good
Neighbor Day races in Downingtown, the WCRC had strong 5k finishers like
Kevin Kelly (3rd), Pete Morse (6th), Rob Jones (7th), John Callahan (8th),
John Loughin (14) as well as good races turned in by Kim Saddic (1st
female, 15th overall), Don Hurford, Mark Eliason, Mike Diamond, Bob Ricks,
Jack Young (ran injured!), Dave Keefe (Mr. Comeback), and lets not
forgot Bob Ruggiero. In the 10k, Eddie "OMy" Myers and Larry Wheeler
ran strong races, and those hardcore runners in the 15K did extremely well
like Kevin Kelly (2nd), Joe Breslin (3rd), Jason McCambridge, and Kelly
Walton - a great day all-around!
